Fun, but short

Very well made, and the difficulty progression was excellent, as far as it went. Still, it felt like I had only just left the tutorial levels when the game was over. Levels 14 and 15 were tough for about 10 minutes each until I figured out what I was missing... and then the whole thing was done. I realize there are user-created levels on your website, but you shouldn't rely too much on user-created content. I could see this being one of the most excellent puzzle games on the internet, if it had about 50 to 60 included levels.

4/5, (and faved anyway)

Fun, but with a few annoying "features"

Really fun game mechanics, but some of the features could use tweaking.

I don't like how the submarines' mines hurt you but not the enemy. They should at least detonate when you knock an enemy into them, clearing the path for you... It would be another obstacle, as well as a place to shove enemies. Same with the whirlpool-- I wouldn't mind their "instant-game-over"-ness as much if I didn't have to watch the enemy float right over them first.
The health boost should come randomly, not only when I'm low on health. It'd be nice to go from half-health to almost-full, rather than only alternating between almost-dead and half-health. If I survive long enough with only moderate damage, I should be rewarded with a chance to recover my full health.

But like I said, the game mechanics and physics themselves are very fun, and I would zip around smashing those boats into the zapper for hours, if it weren't for the whirlpool.

Fun because it's interesting

I really enjoyed playing this, and can't wait to try out a ton of user-created levels. If you know how or could learn how to program online-multiplayer, I would be in heaven competing against other Newgroundsers.

It's a puzzle racing game! Awesome!

A few things

This was a very nice tetris game, and I loved the simplicity of the graphics. But a couple things began to bug me the more I played:
-- In almost every tetris game I've ever played, the rotate key, when there's just one, rotates the block clockwise. This was very distracting when I kept expecting one result and getting another.
--For beginners, the current setup is fine, but in order for someone to do very well, a "next block" window is a necessity. It really adds a whole extra layer of strategy for those who know how to use it. I'm not really at that level yet.

Wow

5/5 of course, and... I'm impressed. This was a very unique concept, and looks like it was very hard to program. The level design is a strong point as well. I'm still clueless on level 22...

Fun!

I like basic platformers, so it's always fun to see a well-made one show up. While this was short, it was entertaining in its randomness. The ice, lava, cave, and sewer-themed levels were kind of disappointing for being stock levels (y'know, forest, mountain, etc) in the middle of more creative themes, but the level design was very good for its difficulty level (low).

In many games I'm annoyed by the long wait every time I die, but this game probably takes it to the opposite extreme-- a half-second pause, or maybe a simple "press space", would be nice. I kept not releasing the aroow keys soon enough, and killing myself right as I respawned.

TCurrent responds:

Thanks. I'll look into fixing the insta-respawn.

One of the best!

Really fun, and definitely one of my new favorites. I normally am incredibly bored by those draw-a-ramp games, but this is something completely different: it's more open and freestyle, and the puzzle aspects mesh nicely with the action aspects to create a perfect skill game. The ability to jump (giving yourself more motion potential as you go) was the key that made this more than complete.

When my ball suddenly turned into the super-bouncy-ball in level 32 (be happy), I felt very let down. The bouncy gameplay is significantly different, and I was looking forward to another 12 levels with the normal ball. I don't know if this is a glitch or an intended feature, but to me it's enough to knock 4 stars off my review...

TheGameHomepage responds:

It only lasts for a couple of levels that were designed specifically for that ball :)

hmmm

I couldn't tell if it was getting harder the longer I went, but it didn't feel like it. Skulls should become more frequent, and time bonuses should be harder to grab (move more quickly). Even if food becomes harder to grab, it wouldn't matter if I could still survive forever with very little work.

Acreonte responds:

hey Ditocoaf, thanks a lot for your feedback, comments and score. I'll take your suggestions into account. The skulls come more frequent but maybe is not changing as fast as it should.
Thanks again!

awesome

Great fun, and really smooth controls. My only problem is that since I'm usually bad at games like this, I get the feeling that my time could be waay off from the goal. It would be nice to know what time I'm aiming for. I would be more motivated to keep playing if I knew how close I was to unlocking the next level.

One of the best games I've seen in a while

I definitely agree with the word "elegant." I thought it might be weird feeling like you controlled your enemies, but it isn't weird at all... it really feels like you control time, in a smooth, intuitive way. I will definitely keep playing this.

I swear this must be what it would be like to exist outside of time.

Kudos and thank you! 5/5 and faved.

Megadev responds:

Thanks very much; we came up with the prototype months ago and finally got round to turning it in to a game over Christmas. We're really pleased with the outcome and still play the game now - our artist is 4th on the all-time leaderboard in fact. ;-) Anyway, cheers for playing!

I'd write something here, but only if it wasn't clever.
